Union Institute does indeed have graduate programs in lactation -- their big claim to fame is "design your own degree." One of my profs described it as home schooling for adults - basically that's how it works. You decide what to do, design a plan, then do your studying on your own. You find yourself one advisor in your field, the school assigns you another. Union pays both of them! And you choose an option for getting together with other grad students for intellectual stimulation - can be bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly, at various locations.
There's lots more info at www.tui.edu
Many of the masters grad students are working toward their IBCLCs. I ended up with a developmental psych focus just because of where my study plan took me. Kathy Kendall Tackett was my advisor!
Contact me off-list for more info - it's not my idea of the perfect place, but if you're self-motivated it's bery do-able.
