Hi All-
I just scoured through my shelves and files looking for the ILCA standards
of practice, and cannot find it. what I am wondering is: is there a
standard that states the lactation consultant working in an outpatient
setting should have a scale in the office, and do weight checks as a routine
part of the care she provides? One of the LC practices in my area does not
have a scale, I believe b/c they work in an OB office, and do not want to
tread on the pediatricians' turf. As an LC with 10 years hospital and
outpatient experience,I don't understand how they can function without a
scale. It wd be nice to find out what the ILCA standard (or other relevant
documents) say, so I have an objective standard to refer to when I talk to
them about it.
thanks in advance
and please respond to me personally as well as posting the list--
