A nursery nurse today told me that a few days ago a mother came to visit her
baby who was still admitted after the mother had been dismissed. The mother
showed the nurse a large place on her leg. It was reported to be oozing pus,
warm and swollen from a spider bite. They sent the mother to ER. I have not
heard of a spider bite being a contraindication for breastfeeding but could not
find anything that said it was OK, either. (There is one lactnet posting from
1998 in the archives.) So, I'm asking you wise ones for any information!
Thanks so much.
