I agree that mother's milk should be the best solution for this situation and really feel for the mother.   Is it possible, however, that the doctor feels he can control and see the exact ingredients of a formula versus her breastmilk? For example, using Nutramigen/Enflora, an extensively hydrolyzed formula, could possible keep the gut less inflammed than larger proteins in mom's milk?
