Acording to Sears' "apology", he accepted gifts worth
at least 80K from Wyeth/PBM in the form of an ad for
his for-profit website in Baby Talk magazine.

I have enjoyed reading Dr. Sears' books, but I cannot
imagine that La Leche League can just overlook this
and accept Sears' lame excuse that he didn't know
there was anything wrong with this. If anyone else did
this, they would no longer be a member of LLLI's
advisory committee.

He FORGOT about the WHO Code? Puhleeze! Even if Dr.
Sears did all of this to promote breastfeeding, the
ends do not justify the means.

I believe Dr. Sears may have thought he could have his
cake and eat it too. It now appears that maybe he was
right. He cannot "give back" an 80 thousand dollar ad
that is undoubtedly sending tens of thousands of
visitors to his website this month (Which is doubly to
his benefit since he advertises his books there). So
he gets to keep this huge gift plus his status as LLLI
Board member?
