Hi Fionah.
In your recent post regarding midwive's duties, you mentioned that if there
was no history of hypertension and a postpartum reading was normal, then no
further readings are taken.
I would like to provide a word of caution regarding this practice.

Preeclampsia, eclampsia, and the even more life threatening HELLP syndrome,
can all present for the first time during the postpartum period.
Continuing routine b/p checks during the postpartum stage can become a life
saving simple precaution for the women who do develop one or more of these
serious complications of pregnancy.

And, to tie it into breastfeeding, the sooner these conditions are caught
and treated, the less severe the effects are to the mom, thus increasing
her likely hood of successful breastfeeding. :)
