My husband who is an OB has a big warm towel when the baby is born and while "drying off and stimulating" he is also examining baby, which takes hardly any time at all, then baby goes on mom's belly until cord stops pulsing and placenta is out. Baby stays with mom unless something is wrong. No evidence other than our five home birthed children. Now, if only I could get him to stop suctioning the babies. He does it so the nurses don't-who are much more intrusive. We are in a small understaffed non-training hospital. He does the APGAR while drying off. Karen G
