I have a mum with a 14 week old baby. She has been using nipple shields
since birth and has had cracks since birth. She was referred to me two
weeks ago. We corrected her attachment and the cracks have healed, but the
baby is very determined to stay at the breast only with the shields. The
mum wants to stop using the shields as she is embarrassed to use them when
feeding in public. The baby is thriving. On my initial consultation, we
were able to attach with the shield and then slip it off and continue the
feed without the shield. We've tried bare feeding with the baby half
asleep, but again with no luck. Would you have any other ideas??
