"I had a nurse tell a mom not to feed too frequently because it would tire the baby out."

This is exactly what every other mammal mother does. She evaluates whether or not the baby is too tired to eat, and witholds food based on her analysis, since the baby himself is not capable of gauging his own fatigue or hunger. NOT. (Imagine the mother dog, keeping track of whether Puppy A is "too tired" while Puppy B is truly hungry, and trying to shake the one loose while feeding the other. Why do we think puppies are smart and human babies are stupid?)

I don't think we even need to hand over research on this one. My current mantra: WWMD - What Would Mammals Do? I'm having plastic wristbands made...
