oh yeah.  Drives me nuts.  All of my friends follow through and fast
completely while pregnant or nursing, even late in pregnancy or with a
tiny baby.  I don't even want to know if my friend with the five day old
is fasting.  Probably.

Birth rates go up sharply following Yom Kippur.   Since most of my irl
friends don't have the same ideals that I have about breastfeeding, they
simply supp with formula when the baby gets irritable from the low
supply late in the fast....or they've pumped previously and give bottles.
