I am very suprised at the responses I am seeing from lactnetters.

I do agree this is primarily a PARENTING and not breastfeeding issue wrt
mothers of young children should not be asked to serve; period unless they
want to.

However, the Idaho law CLEARLY states a nursing mother is exempt until the
child weans, period. It doesn't say "unless the kid is older" or "unless
it's past the usual norm" etc. She is being prosecuted for following the law.

I do wish they'd play the primary caregiver trump card more, but the law is
the law, and idaho officials are NOT following it.

I can't imagine what that DA and judge are thinking. They must not be
elected there. Talk about way to kill a career.

As for being irresponsible for not having people who can come over any ol'
time and watch kids... I don't think that's accurate at all. If an
emergency happened, my family would come watch my kids, get off work, pay
the hundereds of dollars to fly here. They're certainly not going to do
that so I can serve Jury Duty the law says I don't have to!

-Wendey, in Montreal suburbs, who for the record would do the same thing
Siri did. Stupid bureaucrats.
