I know personally of two serious cases. In Peterborough, Ontario, quite a
few years ago now, a woman died after the epidural somehow paralyzed her
breathing. I'm not sure exactly what went wrong, but that's how it was
reported in the newspaper. I also had a friend in Oakville who suffered
nerve damage from a botched epidural that affected her leg. That baby is now
10 years old and the mother still walks with a limp. I've seen many mothers
with the "leaking" causing severe headaches - some have had "patches" done
to stop the leaking but the headaches can be terrible and can make it tough
to bond with the baby or get breastfeeding going.
