Mary, it seems ridiculous to me that the pediatrician or any other hcp
would "pull a baby off breastmilk," without examining the breastfeeding,
and figuring out what really is going on.  I would recommend that your
family member be assertive if she wants to breastfeed, and get a second
opinion from someone who is willing to take a look at the clinical
situation before "Sacrificing breastfeeding on the altar of ignorance," as
Jack Newman MD says. Kathleen

Subject: Need LC
I need to a LC in Calgary, Alberta. I have a distant family member with a
month old baby who is inconsolable. The Ped. has pulled baby off breastmilk,
no assessment has been made on latch, milk transfer, etc. Thanks in advance.
