I am a native of Iowa and did some work with the NICU staff at the Iowa
Methodist Medical Center a little over 10 years ago. They've had an
active LC (IBCLC) in that unit for many years. And even when I was
working in Iowa, their breastfeeding/breast milk feeding rate for the NICU
was very impressive and about the same as the rate then at discharge
for healthy tem babies. So I would trust that there is some very good
breastfeeding support being provided to this mother at the hospital.
