I agree that one cannot even try to convince someone to do something that
 they did
not want to do in the first place.
In my experience, I have found that some mothers who choose to bottle feed
know
something about breastfeeding. But choose not to , citing various reasons
sometimes. Recently, a mother who had premature twins was "talked into"
pumping
by one of the NNPs. The mother was obviously very worried about her babies
and
verbalized that she would do anything for them.
As soon as that mother thought her babies were going to be OK , she stopped
pumping; the babies never got to her breasts. She remarked that breastfeeding
was
not for her.
