Hey, Lisa The easy way around that is to offer to let her stop by and pick up your copy of Hale so she and her MD can go through it together. But she absolutely has to drop it back off on her way back home! :)

Subject: antibiotics for mastitis

I am working with a mother who is struggling with mastitis. She was first
treated by her doctor with dicloxacillin, but developed an allergic
reaction. Her doctor then prescribed cephalexin, and she developed an
allergic reaction to that. Her doctor then stated that she didn't want to
use any other antibiotics in a breastfeeding mother (not safe for baby). I
know many others are safe, and I know I can't recommend any particular
medication, but I'm wondering if anyone can provide some alternatives I
might suggest she ask her doctor about that might not be as likely to cause
an allergic reaction.

Warmly,

Lisa Mandell, MBA, IBCLC
