As I mentioned several days ago when another post about MRSA appeared on
Lactnet, Kay Hoover helped manage a mother with a MRSA mastitis through the
(lengthy episode) and beyond. This mother also was hospitalized,
temporarily pumped and discarded milk from the affected breast (which was
blood red, bright orange, and pus-yellow over the course of the infection.)
The mother ultimately resumed bfeeging on the affected breast and Kay
followed her for a full year of lactation. The case and accompanying photos
are written up in the Breastfeeding Atlas, and might be useful for those
managing MRSA cases.
