Jennifer wrote that,
<< My dd was only 3 1/2 when I completely lost
my milk supply due to a miscarriage and subsequent hemorrhage. She continued
to nurse "dry" for the next 1 1/2 years. I am convinced she would have sucked
her thumb if I had weaned her so early as she clearly needed to suckle. >>

But Jennifer, the disagreement here between David Page and Barbara
Wilson-Clay was about the reasons that some NEONATES are initially attracted
to pacifier use, while others are not interested. Barbara suggested that
compromised respiration increases the likelihood that a baby will be a paci
sucker; David thinks no, it's basically all parent driven. Seems like what
our 3.5 - 5 year old children need is a whole different ball of wax from this
-- fertile, interesting, and so far both candid and polite -- discussion.
