Hi all
No references but our counsellors see recurrent mastitis in the same area
commonly enough to have a theory.  It is widely thought that a nasty bout of
mastitis might leave scarring that makes that area more prone to future
blockages and therefore mastitis.  
Weaning from one side sounds like a sensible solution.
