RE: Norplant and Abusive Relationships
1. Norplant
Waiting four weeks sounds fair and appropriate.
Data seems to indicate that milk supply in unaffected or
increased with progestins.
Long-term studies for children up to age 17 for progesterone-containing
contraceptives have shown normal growth and development.
Abusive realtionship
2. The more I read comments in Lactnet, the more it seems that
the men are the only ones responsible for "abusive relationships."
Is this a common female perspective? I can tell you from
professional and personal experience, it takes TWO to share the
blame for "abusive relationships" and divorce and breakup of
families. When are women going to own up to their roles too?
Funny, it seems to be the man who usually commits suicide or
kills others when these things occur. Why? I feel that one
cause is that society automatically ASSUMES that the man is
usually or almost always the "guilty" party, and the man sees
no other way out.
Sorry, but when these situations are reported in Lactnet, I am
sure that the reporter is only getting the mother's side and
that is not fair to report in that manner. Either get both
sides and be objective, or do NOT report one-sided findings
in the history.
