A mom in Zion(s)ville, NC (near Boone) needs the services of an LC or LLLL
to help resolve bf problems with a baby born at home ~8-9 am on 5/27.
According to the midwife, baby has nursed well only ~6x since birth, and the
midwife would like some local help since she lives in TN, about 1.5 hr. from
her client. They had tried unsuccessfully to contact LLLL in the area.
Midwife called me yesterday afternoon while she was doing pp visit, and
said the baby's tongue was mostly on the roof of her mouth and she couldn't
latch well or stay on. Stroking of lower lip and having baby face-down
across mom's chest with mom on her back worked well, and baby nursed great.
As I understand it, since the midwife came home, the baby has not actually
bf well again, and mom has been pumping and using a syringe to feed.
My '96 ILCA directory isn't helping a lot (have to look up people
one-by-one to see where they live). You can e-mail me privately.
TIA Sara Reuning in Bristol, TN
