Dear Phyllis,

Meditech is a "HIS" or hospital information system with many available modules. It involves a hospital wide installation - not just an application that you buy off the shelf and load into your computer. It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, depending on the size of your institution and the number of modules installed. It is used in many hospitals, and works quite well, but the decision to install such a system is made at the highest levels of administration. If your hospital is not computerized yet, it is a good product to look at - most hospital IS people are familiar with it as it is one of the oldest and most widely used products of its kind.

Warmly,
Sharon Knorr, BSMT, ASCP, IBCLC
