"Discussing the latter finding, Dr. Ni and colleagues write: "Vaginal
delivery may be associated with oxytocin usage, vacuum extraction, and
cephalohematoma (known risk factors for hyperbilirubinemia). Oxytocin exposure, a
risk factor for hyperbilirubinemia was first recognized >25 years ago.
Oxytocin may have some direct effect on neonatal bilirubin metabolism."

And yet synthetic oxytocin ( NOT normal oxytocin like we make ourselves)
when administered has become the norm, both during delivery and
post-delivery. So, it's not vaginal delivery, but the way babies are delivered today,
with augmentation medications, mechanical tools, and other practices that
cause trauma to the baby's system in various ways. Then baby is
"breastfeeding" in an uphill battle, starting from a deficit situation....but sure let's
blame breastfeeding and vaginal delivery. Grrr indeed.
