And you know. I even sort of kind of understand. 

In our modern world (generalizing here) 'machines' (not talking computers)
are introduced in processes to make them go faster, safer, better, cheaper -
whatever. Produce more in less time. Robots - taking over 'dull' tasks
efficiently. 

And now there is this pump, this milkmachine, which barely makes a
difference to expressing milk by hand. It does not really save time, it does
not really produce more, mothers don't like it (feeling a cow) - etc.etc. 

It comes close to what Pamela says: what questions were asked and what was
in the mind of the person who composed the questions........
