See p. 2 of this handout by OTIS (Organization of Teratology Information Specialists):

Dr. Hale discussed this in one of his newsletters, but I'm having trouble tracking it down.

The lead article of Marie Biancuzzo's most recent edition of Breastfeeding
Outlook (2007, issue 1) is "MRSA and the BF Dyad." In addition to discussing research reports re: MRSA in human mik, the article includes a quote from Ruth Lawrence, MD on p. 5,
which appeared in a previous issue of the newsletter.

Re: the MOT you're caring for -- doesn't sound as if wound is in area where pumping occurs. Would think with scrupulous handwashing, care of wound and proper kit cleaning it wouldn't be much of an issue if babies have been home and "exposed" to mom prior to recognition of bacteria causing infection.
