I've been away for a while, haven't read recent mail, but was concerned about
the suffocating baby article.  Forgive me if these points have already been
made:

1.  As a mom who sleeps with my own baby, I NEVER recommend that an infant
sleep between her/his parents.  In my own experience of watching my husband
almost roll over on our daughter, I've figured out that dads just sometimes
don't have that "sixth sense" that moms have, the one that keeps us in tune
with where our babies are at all times.

2.  Who knows?  Maybe the baby died of other reasons, and the
press/doctors/public was quick in its rush to judgement that this "weird"
sleeping arrangement contributed to the death.

3.  Where are the articles about the babies that die every year from ABM
feeding?  Or from accidents that might happen because the parents are a room
away from their babies, and cannot hear what's going on?

4.  The family bed is the best thing in the world, next to breastfeeding, of
course.
