Hi Jody,

It took me a while to find this original post again and am also sending it to you privately.  After rereading your post, it definitely sounds like you are culturing the innards of the pump as you had to take a hammer to some of them!  This is VERY important and interesting information!  You also mentioned that you are still gathering information and will let us all know when it is completed.  I was just hoping you could "pipe in" one more time to verify that you are finding the mold on the metal innards of the pump, and also, are you also looking at the other "closed systems" - like ameda's!

Also, as an addendum, I received this post privately from another lactation consultant:

"I did not post on the mold discussion. Some years ago a local pedi and 
I did swab a Pump In Style motor. The budding yeast cells shocked us. 
Also, the Symphony motor  was dirty. It appeared to be dried 
breastmilk. I sent the info on to Medela. I no longer have any 
association with Medela."
