Kathy: The article I was talking about does not specifically mention
vacuum extractions. I have the article in front of me and this is now
direct quotations: "Common circumstances under which NDEs occur include:
surgery, accidents, allergic reactions, acute illness, drowning, combat
trauma, suicide attempts, terminal illness, and childbirth...It is also
significant to note children have NDEs...One difficulty is that NDE
experiences may happen to children who are very young - possibly too young
to talk. Children who experienced difficult births, illnesses or accidents
at an early age may have had an NDE and consequently, have lingering after
effects. My personal comment was that I felt that it might be easy for a
baby to experience NDE after a vacuum birth, if not done correctly (and not
all are, I also am an L&D nurse). The point of my post was to say that I
found this article to be very thought-provoking with NDE certainly worth
looking into. I know there is a website: www.birthpsychology.com that
explores similar subjects.
Hope this clarifies things.
