I thought some of you might be interested to know that a national post of
'Infant Feeding Best Practice Manager' -- which is a civil service job
located at the Department of Health has been given to two women who are
volunteers with a breastfeeding support orgainsation (The Breastfeeding
Network). (The will job share). Previously this position has gone to
clinicans (midwife, health visitor).

I don't know if this is unique (to have voluntary organisation people in the
top governemnt job) -- but it is very interesting! I, for one, am watching
to see what happens, and also cheering from the sidelines (disclaimer -- I
know them both well and have done for years). I should say that neither is
an IBCLC as this qualification has not established its relevance to
breastfeeding work here in the UK.

Breastfeeding Supporter, BfN, UK
