Trish Shamblin, thanks for explaining the Vermont Birth & Beyond materials.
(I must've missed the question, been wallpapering all weekend!)

The materials are done in Visual Presentation style -- so yes, lots and
lots of photos with lots of learning activities. Nurses do "online
learning" all the time and I will tell you - I usually take the test before
I read the materials and usually I pass. Not a good way to learn something
new!

One thing that really struck me -- after the first day of training we gave
the assignment of really watching a skin to skin transaction, and reporting
on it the next time. These very experienced nurses came back bubbling over
with excitement about what it seemed they had truly SEEN for the very first
time - even in hospitals where they were "already doing skin to skin"!

Dawn Kersula in snowy Vermont (where we are all happy for the snow)
