Ben Lynch ND postulates a connection between tt and MTHFR polymorphisms,
but there's nothing definitive yet. It's possible that lower activity of
MTHFR is an issue mostly in people who don't get enough of other methyl
donors, especially methionine, which is low in most vegetable foods
except some seaweeds. That is certainly true of cardiac malformations,
which are linked to inactivating MTHFR mutations (completely broken
genes), but NOT to the common variants that just have lower activity
(polymporphisms).

There is an X-linked gene that when mutated in critical ways is
definitively associated with TT (in females) and TT and cleft palate (in
males). It is variably dominant, so sometimes a female with the mutation
is completely affected and more rarely, they have no tt at all. The gene
is TBX22. The mouse variant (tbx22) also causes choanal atresia
(partial blockage of the nasal airway). Several of us here have seen
this triad in human babies. Other studies provided evidence that there
are other tongue tie genes that are inherited in an autosomal (not the
sex chromosomes) dominant pattern.

I don't know anything about SSRIs and tt. Anyone else?
