Many years ago (I'm very old, you know), my son, sweet William, was born 2/3
of the way through a semester, fortunately, during a snowstorm while the
college was shut down. When school opened after the weekend, we just went
to class. I never asked anyone's permission, I just did it. He attended
lectures and art classes for about month. No instructor ever said anything
about his being a problem. We just nursed and I carried him in a MacPack,
no slings then. I was in very small classes, so it's not like we could
disappear into the crowds either. A few years later, I graduated while
pregnant with his younger sister. My concession to babies and nursing was
to go to school while pregnant, take the year after the birth off, go back
to school part-time for another year, then resume full-time classes until
the next baby. Took me 8 years to get a 4 year degree.
