A question for our lawyers on the list. I thought I knew the answer but I am being questioned so thought I would bring the question here. Is it legal to test a mother's breastmilk because you suspect she may be using something harmful to her baby without her permission? I thought that because it was the mother's body fluid you needed her permission but I am being told that it is the baby's food so it can be tested without permission from mom. Asking the correct legal answer, I know that testing the breastmilk is not the best way to accurately determine this.
