Hi.  Usually just a reader but wanted to thank everyone for the
wonderful information lately on Fenugreek.  Thank you Cindy for the
terrific website.  I currently am working with a mother who delivered at
34 weeks due to high BP.  She has a history of Fibromyalgia and is on
Prozac 20mg a day and is not taking any of her other meds because she
wants to bf. She had a breast reduction years ago and  the nipple and
areola were both taken off and repositioned.  Initially infant  could
not nurse and pumping began within 24 hours post delivery.  Mom has been
pumping faithfully q3h, eating, etc.  Her infant's suck is much  better
and she is home and occaisionally latching but not nursing for long.
Mom's milk supply is very low.  Pumping 7cc to 30cc at other times.  We
have tried increasing the pumping, bringing infant to the breast at all
feedings, lots of skin to skin, and Fenugreek.  The Fenugreek gave her
severe diarrhea with 3 capsules 3xs/d, 2 capsules 3xs/s less diarrhea, 1
capsule 3xs/d (knowing this would not impact much)also diarrhea.  Her
Fibromyalgia pain is worsening and she may begin taking more meds that
are safe for bf.  A friend told her blessed thistle would help the
diarrhea, she has decided to stop taking the Fenugreek.  Has anyone
heard of this helping?  Any suggestions for what I may be missing.  She
did not want to try the SNS-too much pain holding her infant that long.
