I wonder why I would ever give up such a wonderful
learning opportunity.>

Well, one reason might be that it is almost "addicting" when you have a
lot of other responsibilities in your life! Welcome back again.

<I have a query...Are there any
other nuns out there doin this ministry???I am a
Philadelphia Franciscan and have bee IBCLC since
1995...An RN much longer...Just curious.>

I don't have any answers for you. But your question does remind me that
the "breast compression" so often recommended with the explanations
provided by Dr. Jack, is not something new with him. (I don't think he
ever claimed it to be.)

I remember reading at least one or more articles describing "alternate
massage" in professional nursing magazines back in the '60's or '70's I
think, and noting that they were written by a nun who showed an
infectious love of OB nursing, and of helping breastfeeding mothers in
particular.

Pity there were no websites then. I'll bet she'd have been on one! Does
anyone else remember her name or the article(s)?

Jean
