"There is a mom whose 4.5 month old baby has already been diagnosed with
reflux. An internist has seen the baby and has advised the mom that he wants
to do what sounds to me like a PH Probe and says the baby cannot nurse for 4
hours prior to the procedure."

Why is an interist (adult specialist) seeing the baby?
Ph probes dont require sedation, they can be inserted nasally
while the child/baby is fully awake.
I also agree the mom can ask about the necessity of the procedure.
I have vey few probes donre on my pateints and only at
the descrssion of a peds gastroenterologist . I do treat some parents, I
mean babies, for reflux <g>
