Hi, I ruptured my membranes and lost all the fluid, when I was about 22 weeks
along. One of the things I was told (17 years ago) is that losing the amniotic
fluid before the 21st week keeps the lungs from developing, the lungs need the
fluid flowing through them to allow development.
In my case the sac actually healed and I regained all the fluid that was lost.
(you keep producing amniotic fluid like saliva or urine), As long as the sac
heals you can regain the fluid.
My son ended up arriving at 29 weeks. Another story!
