     Jay, I would hate to imagine what would happen to the nursing personnel
involved in the hospital where I work, if doctors orders are not followed.
 Although nurses do have some flexibility in the neonatal ICU regarding
certain feeding orders, the situation you are describing is different.  You
are describing an extremely low birth weight preemie who can tolerate nothing
but EBM.  The feeding preference has been duly noted, but the nurses are
ignoring the MD order for EBM feeds.

      My question to you is- who is the person that the nurses report to?
 I'm sure there is a director of nursing there who you can tell this to.
 That would be taken very seriously in my hospital.  Also, is there a patient
representative?  In the large metropolitan hospital where I work, patients
have gone to see the administration department, also.  All three methods work
very well to obtain change.
