Does anyone have or know of any medical literature on the safety of
sleeping with an infant? I've found myself to be in a debate on this
issue with a doctor who has quoted biblical references to overlying and
says he's personally seen two cases of infant deaths caused by the
parents rolling over and smothering the baby. (See the Parents Place
Web Site - http://www.parentsplace.com/ it's one of their main
features today.) My only reading on the issue has been non-medical (Dr.
Sears' books, Tine Thevenin's "The Family Bed", and a book by a british
woman whose name I can't recall titled "3 in a Bed: Why you Should
Sleep with your Baby".)

I would probably leave the issue as it stands, but the doctor's tone
seems to me to be the "scare tactics" one that I've encountered once
too often and it really rubs me the wrong way.

You can email me at [log in to unmask] Thanks in advance.
