I have been telling my moms the same story also. When I heard about the
live babies at that time I was surprised.
I have a nursing student instructor ask me for documentation on the length
of time a baby can wait without being supplemented. Prime concern was a
baby about 24 hours of age very sleepy. Attempted to wake baby without
success. Had been given a bottle during the early morning hours and had not
breastfed since.I suggested to the instructor that we should give the baby
more time to wake up.
I find that many nurses and doctors do not look at the baby they look at
the clock, the weight, but not how the baby is doing otherwise.
