Pam told us of the peer counselor who returned to work with her 4 week old baby and how HR became upset with the situation. Perhaps HR is unaware of the new law that requires employers to have a separate place for breastfeeding mothers to pump that is not a bathroom plus provide breaks to do so. We could assume that this district office had no such accommodation which breaks the law, so the mother had no choice but to bring her baby with her, to make sure that she would not have to report this employer to the Department of Labor! So in essence this mother did the district office a huge favor.

There is a great website at http://www.babiesatwork.org/ which talks at length about bringing babies to work. You may wish to enlighten HR on this option and speak with other WIC agencies who most certainly allow and encourage this practice.
