Can anyone help identify and help? A mother who I have been supporting since she was pregnant had her baby's tongue tie snipped a week ago. He is now three months and exclusively bf. Around three weeks ago she had a bleb which was waning but then came back. Two days before the frenotomy she called to say that a bright red 5mm area had appeared on the nipple where the bleb had been. It was very sore to feed on that side. I suggested she go to the GP who thought it was an infection and prescribed antibiotics. I saw her the day after the frenotomy (carried out by a paediatric surgeon with no bf/lactation background). The red area was not like anything I have seen before - her nipples are long, and this is like a large red blob off-centre at the end of the nipple. I thought it may improve if connected to the tongue tie, with careful P & A, although it doesn't look abraded as such nor cracked. One week later she says it has not changed at all, and still painful. She can see what she describes as an enlarged pore under the surface.
