I have been thinking lately that, in explaining the importance of
breastfeeding, we might do well to try to take the breast out of the
equation - just for a moment.  
It is widely accepted that children need to consume milk - that (dairy) milk
is an important source of nutrients for growing children.  Here in Aus, the
dairy industry encourages us to provide our kids with 'three serves of dairy
a day'.  
So, if milk is an important part of a child's diet, why shouldn't it be
human milk?
If we stop talking about 'breast' milk, perhaps our message will be more
acceptable to those who think that (mothers') breasts should be invisible.
Just a thought ...
