Early childhood caries is caused by vertical transmission of mutans 
streptococci and lactobacillus bacteria from parent or caregiver to child. The 
award winning Journal of the California Dental Association has the whole  
October 2007 issue devoted to Caries Management By Risk Assessment, 
CAMBRA.  It can be viewed online

Or you can call the California Denal Association to request a copy and give it 
to the dentist. You can also search for a dentist who is using CAMBRA in their 
pratice.
