As a professional working in the perinatal area, knowing that C/S without
labor is high risk for "malignant" transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN)
and pulmonary hypertension; knowing the risks of C/S to me and having gone
through a long labor, only to have a C/S anyway, I would choose to "schedule"
a C/S when I went into labor as the safest, easiest alternative FOR ME.

Women have a right to make decisions based on what is best for them as well
as what is best for their infant. There is not one person on this listserve
who would not lay down his/her life for their child, but we all make very
different choices regarding pain, convenience, modesty, religion, culture,
etc.

OBs are NOT doing C-sections based on money or their convenience, but based
on what women are requesting. As someone with a son, a husband and 3 dogs
and 3 cats - all of whom are cuddlers - I still think test tubes are looking
good!
