After having done an archive search, I was still
wondering if anyone has any recent references re:
guidelines for: type of tubing used with
continuous/compressed feeds and frequency of tubing
change in the NICU setting. This unit recently changed
it`s policy on using microbore tubing with feeds. A
nurse stated she had read in a textbook that microbore
tubing was not good to use ? protein adherence??? So
we are supposed to use the larger extension tubing
which of course wastes milk and fat! I am starting to
wonder whether its a cost issue.

Please e-mail privately and to the list. I am way
behind on posts.

Thanks, Lisa Logan RNC,IBCLC
