Oh boy. I remember when my youngest was a baby. We all had the worst gastro
flu. Being bf, she was the only one that remained well and happy. (I always give
this little example to the parents in the prenatal classes. They are surprised that
mothers who are ill can nurse.)

Elderberry extract (trade name - Sambucol) developed by a Hadassah Hospital
virologist is very helpful in preenting/lessening severity of flu. It can be
taken by adults and children alike. It doesn't mask the symptoms like OTC tablets.
It's o.k. for lactating women. I understand it is now available in the States.
The zookeepers at the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem are even using elderberry syrup for
the chimps. No kidding.

Also helpful - Dolicocsil 1000 which is made from Anas-Barbariae; 9C of Echinacea
and 3D of Cuprum Gluc. We all take one preventative dose once a month from October
till March. Since I run around hospitals and clinics a lot - not to mention my
daughter's kindergarten which is "germ-soup", I feel better with a little
protection. So far, so good.
