Dear Lactnetters,
I have read so much about the use of fenugreek and blessed thistle to
increase the milk supply, and it sounds quite useful. I have not, however ,
seen any references to a possible down side to them. Since they are drugs,
an nearly all drugs may have negative effects at some time or another (at
least), I am very curious to hear if either fenugreek of blessed thistle
have been known to have negative effects on the women taking them.
Especially since fenugreek is commonly used in diabetic patients, couldn't
it cause problems in those who aren't diabetic and take it to increase
milk?
I can't find blessed thistle here in Israel (yet) although fenugreek can be
found anywhere, either in it's natural form, used with foods, or in
capsules.
From sunny Israel,
