I also know a woman with a tumor on her pituitary. She could express milk in
college, well before she was ever pregnant and had tons of milk while nursing
her two huge children. She has the tumor MRI-ed (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
periodically to make sure it is not growing. The tumor is considered benign,
but the concern is that if it grows too much, it could affect her vision so
she has her visual fields checked as well. She will probably have to have it
removed eventually (pituitary and all?), but wonders how this will affect her
milk supply with subsequent children. She also wonders if she can get
pregnant at all if she has the pituitary removed. She is currently nursing
her 18 month old and wants to continue indefinitely (her older son weaned
himself at age 2.5).
Any information would be helpful.
