Another .02 worth on the issue of niacin flushing. My husband also took
niacin as a "cholesterol buster" and went through the red tomato phase
after each dose. Within a week, however, the flushing and discomfort
diminished, especially when the niacin was taken with food. In time, he
felt no discomfort and the blush was barely noticeable for a few minutes.
If he missed a dose for a day or two, the process began all over again.
Perhaps his experience is common and will encourage others who need to
take niacin to continue its use until the body has a chance to adapt re:
flushing.
